While developing the Model TL-900, DC Matic gathered input from the U.S. Army, Marines and the Texas National Guard. Face-to-face meetings and actual use on vehicles like the HEMTT, LHS and the M88 Hercules tank revealed that the tool could perform every task it encountered. Veteran National Guard personnel stated that using the standard issue HEMTT tools took excessive manpower and 80 % longer to remove and replace wheel lug nuts.
With the abundance of NATO slave receptacles available in the field,
the TL-900 can be powered anywhere vehicles are present.
Testing performed at Ft. Hood, TX resulted in the issue a "Letter of Justification" or LOJ from the U.S. Army stating that "the tool is a must have" for wheeled and tracked vehicles.
